What we do

The geocultural group is a network of professionals who meet biweekly to discuss a curated selection of topics brought up by the group. Topics are prepared in advance and the sessions are led by a moderator, though these sessions are very different from presentations or webinars. Free discussion is encouraged and “side discussions” are common if they add value to the group members.

Who we are

The group consists of senior-level professionals working in global operations, marketing, product management, internationalization, and other departments that benefit from increased geocultural awareness. The group moderator facilitates discussion around the prepared topics and group size is kept small so that these sessions can continue to be collaborative and inclusive, with everybody getting a chance to participate.

Why we exist

As the world becomes more globalized, effective organizations and brands need to think more localized. This means being aware of the subtle yet significant differences between markets and cultures. It is crucial that professionals on the front lines of globalization have a forum to share and learn from each other’s experiences.

Responsible social engagement in a post-COVID-19 world

The recent (ongoing) events with the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted the need to develop innovative new ways to engage with each other. It has been inspiring to see how companies and organizations have stepped up to provide online/remote training and webinars to those who are practicing responsible social-distancing.

Remote access to these resources and information is valuable but can leave out the human component. This is why we have started this global initiative with a focus on discussion and human interaction. Each session provides not only valuable information and insight but also an opportunity to experience the (remote) human contact that is absolutely critical to sustaining a healthy remote working environment.

Want to join?

There are currently openings to join a client-side geocultural group. To ensure discussions remain focused, this group is limited to senior-level professionals working in “client-side” roles at global operations.

Want to host?

For those who are interested in starting their own group, this is your opportunity to start your own. Moderators will be provided access to curated discussion materials, training, and support from other moderators.

How we succeed together

Topics for biweekly sessions are suggested by individual group members. Each topic is examined and vetted by the group moderators to make sure that it is relevant and valuable for all members of the group. Approved topics are researched and added to the agenda for an upcoming session.

Prior to each session, the agenda is sent out to participants, along with research notes and sources, so that participants have the opportunity to do their own research and prepare for the discussion.

Session notes and materials are posted online afterward so that they can be referenced later by any participants or other approved group members who were not able to join the discussion.
